Week Eleven in the Mission Field
This week has been a very interesting one and I am looking forward to the following week.
Tuesday was a very special day because we learned Elder Fusselman was leaving us to go fill a spot that was left empty due to Elders going back to their originally assigned missions, so we scheduled District Council to be that Tuesday so we could all say goodbye. It was a very heartfelt meeting and it didn't help when he decided to play hymn #152 (God be with you till we meet again). After the Sisters cried and said their goodbyes, we all went out to eat. The Sisters went with us, so I don't know why they already said their goodbye?! Elder Kelly had a long goodbye with him after being spike ball companions for the entire time we have been here. The rest of the day mostly consisted of us calling random numbers which led to two people. Sadly, one is in Okeechobee (which is out of our area) and he is an electrician. I talked to him for a while and asked if we could have the other Elders talk to him. He said he would but that he is very busy for the rest of the month. The other contact was funny because we called him in the middle of him getting a haircut. He said we would call later and talk with him. After a quick talk, we are going to meet with him and talk in person, which is a massive improvement for trying to talk with people on the phone! We plan to meet with him next Wednesday.
Wednesday we had service for the flea market people and helped them set everything back up. I was able to take some things home including a sweet apron and Seahawks pillow. After lots of running around and placing things everywhere we finished and went home and relaxed. While we were at home, Elder Kasparian got a call from President Ashcroft saying that he is the new District Leader in our area.
Thursday we got the whole district together (except the sisters) to help move some people. We also got to meet the new Elder that replaced Elder Fusselman. His name is Elder Griffith and he is an interesting person that loves to crack jokes like, “Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses, or one horse sized duck”? The people we helped move had a full semi-truck pull up which was a big surprise. They didn't even have that much stuff so we were super quick. They also had a massive dog the size of Elder Kelly. They were really nice and grateful and fed us McDonald's for lunch. After we finished up we said goodbye to the other Elders and went home.
Friday we did a lot of driving because we were having exchanges with the Zone Leaders who live up in Palm Bay that is two hours away. We just met halfway and Elder Sampson and Elder Kasparian went up to Palm Bay. We had Elder Bullock with us and we went over Facebook finding and how to cold text. Facebook finding is where you look at people near you and like their posts and comments.
Saturday we went over to Sister Knapp's place and I got to touch a larger tractor and it made me happy to move the bucket. We also helped her put up a cover around her hot tub. We had the rest of the day off to call and study.
Sunday we had our usual meetings which are Ward Council, Sacrament and Sunday School. We are trying something where we have members give out a Book of Mormon with their testimonies in it. So far people are excited to do it, but we need to get more books because people are asking if we have one we can give them.
Monday we went to the Okeechobee house and chilled because it was too hot to play volleyball, but we played spike ball, and it felt like I was in a sauna. I was sweating something crazy, but we had a lot of fun dying in the sun.
This week was very hectic but fun in the same way and it went really quick. We have transfers in two weeks and we will see where I go from there. I hope everyone back home has a good day and thanks for reading this.
